Counter Strike Go Vs Source
When you say 'Counter Strike', as opposed to 'Counter Strike 1.6', do you mean Counterstrike Source?Anyway. I play all three regularly. They all control quite a bit different from each other. 1.6 still has way more people playing it, and the hitboxes and ballistics model gives it a higher skill ceiling than either Source or GO. So, 1.6 is more competitive, but I have more fun playing Source or GO. The Source engine physics gives the guns a better sense of weight and power, and it's just more satisfying to shoot. Plus the modern graphics are a nice touch.
I'd say, if you play CS Source, don't be too eager to jump on Global Offensive. Definitely worth picking up next time it's on sale for $10 or less, though. The new maps are really good, the graphical overhaul of the classic maps look great, and the Arms Race mode is decent fun, when you can get a server that's not empty and populated with bots (which is getting more and more rare, unfortunately). I've played CS since it's first mod beta in 2000 or 99' (I forget), kid you not.
CS GO for me restores the buzz and affection I used to have for CS. It's well made, feels right, nice aesthetics, and has tons of nice game modes.
The community server variety is much worse than that of when Source was in its heyday. The main reason IMO is the casual matchmaking system, because most casual players won't bother using the server browser. For me this is bad, because my favourite part of playing Source was the community experience and game mode variety. What are the differences between Counter Strike 1.6 and CS:Source? Ask Question 8. It's best to go for the head shot whenever possible. The expert bots are now lethal. And whatever happens, don't let them carry an auto sniper (especially the G3SG1) because, ooooooohh boy!! Global Offensive and Counter Strike: Source?
Demolition mode alone feels perfect to me, and is great for a bite size challenged based FPS romp, without the major downtime - and classic is still a hoot. Source was good for its time as a engine novelty and had a great mod scene, 1.6. Will always be a classic.
Just wish GO had a more active multiplayer scene, but that'll change in time just like the slow popularisation of Source. I kinda like CS:GO's matchmaking system, the only thing is people drop in and out ALL THE TIME. So very rarely will you get enough rounds in with an actual team. Sometimes I join matchmaking and realizing 10 min later my team consists entirely of bots. The rest of the game is meh. The weapons are meh, the map changes screw with my head.1.6 just evolved into a really annoying game, imo. I played CS beta 1 up through 1.3 maybe?
And when CS:Source came out I never looked back.Out of all of them I prefer Source the most, and would recommend that one above the others. That's why I stopped using the matchmaking system. I only ever use it if I feel like a quick Arms Race match. And even then, I join a game, and if there's any bots I leave.
I browsed the community servers and it didn't take long to find a few that are almost always full, and have a bunch of regular players, who will stick around on a team for hours. I actually started playing GO a lot more since finding a couple decent servers and saving them.
I only ever play Source anymore when my friends who haven't got GO want to play. And then, I still play 1.6 every now and again, if I'm feeling lucky. I've only played source and GO, but I have moved to GO permanently now.The reason is I like playing CS, not crazy mod maps. Most of the servers on CSS aren't 'normal' CS anymore, it's all zombies and weird mods, which I guess is good if that's what you like. I have a friend with 2000 hours in source and he's refusing to move.GO just feels more complete to me, although I do miss some of the maps from Source.kraken2109That's exactly why I got frustrated when I tried to come back to both 1.6 and Source after years of not playing. Finding servers that were just playing plain old Counterstrike was a pain.
Counter Strike Vs Counter Strike Source
I have managed to find a few, though, so now I have a handful of regular CS servers in my favorites list for both 1.6 and Source, and they're the only ones I play on anymore. Also, I really love the new maps in GO. I think they make up for the couple old maps that didn't make the cut.
